This is my third and final attempt and getting this blog revamped and updated. In keeping with my other vices right now (working out, etc.) this will be another thing I make myself do until I get in the habit. So if anyone is subscribed to this and saw an update tonight, I hope you didn’t have a heart attack.
Just wanted to comment on one big thing I’m extremely happy for. My local Wal-Mart is the worst DVD supplier on the face of the Earth. It’s a proven fact. Ever since I moved to Starkville five years ago, it’s been my biggest complaint. However, I have learned to make do. We do have an FYE in town but when there’s a DVD in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart and the same one is $40 at FYE, it makes you raise an eyebrow or two, and never return.
After the recent surge of High Definition on DVD – I thought my local Wally World would be at the bottom of the list in the HD & Blu Ray battle. Much to my chargin, I was surprised to find that in the New Releases section, there was a row dedicated to both HD & BR. Granted, these were only new film releases that were being made available, but I digress. When it was announced HD was folding, Wal-Mart did nothing for three months to move forward on the Blu Ray market. The same titles sat on the shelf, both HD and BR – and I became angered as I had bought both formats and were ready to start a collection forming.
On Tuesday afternoon I went to Wal-Mart, once again disappointed to see the lack of titles, the holes in the shelves, and the depressing price tags. But when I returned to pick up a few items this morning, much to my surprise, there was an all new Blu Ray section awaiting me, with between 75-100 titles, all on it’s own lane and at very reasonable prices. It’s the little things in life that please me. Welcome all two of you returning readers and anyone new coming in. I hope I can do something worthy of your time here besides dancing a jig.

lol, dancing a jig would be fine.
Wal-Marts dvd section isn’t the best, but it seems like they are working on it. I had the same reaction to my store when I saw a whole section just for Blu Ray….makes me happy too.
Now if only we could find the Heart of Wal-Mart….
I want to see the jig! We’ll be moving to Blu Ray soon, so it’s nice to know that Wal-Mart is getting with the program. We have so many stores in this area that price wars get started between them, and the consumer wins (if they get to the best location early enough).
That’s cool. I have been having issues with DVD getting in my town right now. I nearly have to resort to human sacrificing to find the good tv shows and box sets. And this isn’t a small city so you would think this wouldn’t be an issue.
