Vacation + My Week Picks
So if you’ve been looking for my updates or SHoE (God help you on either) you’ll probably have seen a recent lack, including a not as much posting on Twitter lately. I’ve had some writer’s block lately and am down here in Florida trying to change that a little bit, as I’ve got a new screenplay to finish soon and a book that some folks are interested in, so we’ll see if I have fixed all that by the first of next week when I head back to Starkville.
In the meantime, I’m going to start doing a weekly thing here – like on Mondays or Tuesdays, of songs I’ve had in my head all week, and books I’m reading or movies I think are worth your time. Now these are just my suggestions but it’s what I’m into right now so you might feel the same if you’re into what I’m into.
Books: I Love You, Beth Cooper – Reading this right now sitting on the beach under my umbrella – hilarious book. Written by Larry Doyle who’s written some Simpsons episodes and that last Looney Tunes movie, “Back In Action”. The book is hilarious, a tale of a guy in high school who wants to tell the popular girl he’s in love with her. But it’s all done from his perspective, in his head, which is great. Pick it up if you want a laugh. I met Larry a couple years back and he’s hilarious as well, I think they’re in the process of making a movie out of this one and Hayden Panettiere is playing Beth Cooper so if you want to read the book first, here’s your chance.
Music: Tom Baxter – SkyBound – Tom is good friends with my buddy James Carrington and when his CD came out on iTunes last year I picked it up instantly but am just now getting to give it a full listen. It’s amazing. Check it out if you have the chance, you won’t be disappointed at all. Particularly the tracks “Better” and “Tragic”, probably the best single on the CD. His lyrics are awesome.

i’ll keep an eye for the book.
If i could recommend a book as well. Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. It’s the story of a convict who flees to India and becomes part of the criminal underworld. It’s an intense read, but it did help me with some writer’s block issues i had.
It’s also on track to being a movie with Johnny Depp and Amitabh Bachchan(the biggest actor in india) but had to be delayed with the writer’s strike.
hope you beat the writers block
