10 Comic Guys I’d Buy A Drink

Before jumping headlong into this – I know my good, good friend and part-time lover Steve did this over at Geek Out Online, the official website of the Geek Out Loud, but I think that it’s something that every geek (yes, I’m calling myself a geek, take note) should think about in their life. Honestly, for anyone that reads comics or grew up with Saturday morning cartoons, there should be a moment when you stop and figure out what you like more, what you enjoyed growing up, and what you like the best now. So, in what I hope to be a long line of these “Top 10’s” – I’m starting with what’s always been my #1 love since I was a kid: comics.

#10.) Ghost Rider – Who wouldn’t want to buy a beer for a guy with the last name of Blaze? I didn’t get into Ghost Rider until I was a good bit older but he’s still rockin’.

#9.) Gambit – If I love the character, I have to love their alter ego’s name. I would friggin’ name my kick Remy LeBeau Russell. The character doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He’s cory in a lot of instances but incredibly bad-ass in most.

#8.) The Punisher – I love the dark as much as the light, a character that cares about protecting the innocent by whatever means is so awesome to me. Frank Castle is the epitome of a bad ass and I have a feeling I’d have to buy him a lot more than a beer.

#7.) Green Lantern – My only complaint here would be the number of Green Lanterns, it really messes with my love of the character sometimes. Definitely the best is Hal Jordan, who deserves a round of drinks.

#6.) Green Arrow – While he ranks the lowest out of the three big “playboy billionaire turned hero” Oliver Queen can be a little more gritty and raw than Batman or Iron Man in some instances. I love his mentality.

#5.) Batman & Robin – I’m listing the dynamic duo together because I love both characters equally. Batman is a bit further down on my list which I’ll undoubtedly take flack for, but even more flack will be given that I like Robin. I don’t always like what they’ve done with the character but there’s been a lot of redeeming factors. I’ll buy him a Shirley Temple since he may or may not be underage.

#4.) The Flash – I grew up on Wally West, I had more Flash comics than anything as a kid. In some ways the The Flash’s story is the coolest in comic back stories.

#3.) Daredevil – I friggin’ love Daredevil. And, yeah, you know what? I dug the movie. I thought it was done really well. Matt Murdock is bad ass and I’d gladly lead him into the bar and buy him a few shots

#2.) Iron Man – I was digging on IM before it was cool to dig IM. If it weren’t for my number one pick, Iron Man would be my favorite (duh!) but Tony Stark is so damn cool that I want him to buy me a beer.

#1.) Superman – Was there any doubt? ‘Nuff said.
